The Four Seasons

We are fortunate that the ACT and Capital Region experiences four ‘true’ weather seasons every year, snow in winter, autumn colour, green springs and dry hot summers give filmmakers the ideal settings for their work.

Privately Owned Locations

ScreenACT holds contact details for some private locations in the ACT and Capital Region, For other specific locations, ScreenACT can assist Producers with identifying the owners and have them negotiate directly.

Private Location Owners - Interested in having your house filmed?

For private location owners interested in making their property available for filming activity, ScreenACT provides some general guidelines to assist you. These guidelines are for reference purposes only. ScreenACT recommends you obtain independent
legal advice before entering into any agreements with individuals or production companies in connection with filming activity on your property.

ACT and Capital Region Locations

ScreenACT is dedicated to assisting and developing the film, television and digital media industry sectors in the ACT and region, as well as providing production liaison services. ScreenACT actively encourages commercial filming in the ACT and the Capital Region.

ScreenACT provides free advice and help with location scouting for any production made in the ACT and can assist with obtaining access to Territory and Commonwealth controlled locations. We can also refer you to the relevant Councils Film officers when filming in the Capital Region.

Distinctive Locations

The ACT and Capital Region is a unique part of Australia, offering an amazing array of diverse locations. Along with breathtaking landscapes, the region’s coastline is pristine, with equally untouched hinterlands and rainforests. The Capital Region boasts the highest mountain in Australia; virgin white snow; sweeping grasslands; vineyards; diverse farming infrastructure; fishing fleets; quaint heritage villages full of colonial architecture and gold rush legacies, and of course Canberra, the Nation’s Capital with its monumental buildings and urban city-scapes.

Location Services

ScreenACT’s aim is to provide Screen producers with a service that is second to none. Our locations gallery offers a ‘taste’ of what is out there. We understand the needs of location managers and screen producers and we endeavour to make the production process as easy as possible here in the ACT & region.  We give 4 hours free help and location scouting and then normal market rate location fees apply, should you wish to employ us to do your location scouting further.

Transport

Much of the region is easily accessible by air, road or rail. Canberra has an international airport and there are a number of smaller airports throughout the region. Sydney is a three-hour drive from Canberra and just 45 minutes by air.

Accommodation

The ACT and Capital Region offers a wide variety of accommodation from five star hotels to quaint B&B’s. Many of the region’s towns have excellent motel accommodation. Camping is permitted in some areas of National Parks.
