Introducing Producer Pod, a development initiative aimed at building the skill sets of Screen Producers from the ACT & Region.

Producer Pod has two phases:

Phase One consists of two workshops forming the core course.

Phase Two consists of specific project workshops around film/tv/games.



PRODUCER POD PHASE ONE - COMPLETED

For Phase One we have a great line up of speakers, facilitators and workshops for Producer Pod which will have three areas of focus all concentrating on producing: Making your project good (Development for Producers); Getting your project off the ground (Financing – traditional and new ways) and Getting your project out (Distribution and marketing - traditional and new ways).

Some of the highlights:

  • What it means to be a Producer with Mary Jane Skalski, New York Producer of Oscar nominated feature ‘The Visitor’.
  • Business Basics delivered by Canberra Business Point
  • Development for Producers delivered by International script consultant, Stephen Cleary  
  • Producing Low Budget Features with Tait Brady from AFTRS - how, why and what not to do
  • Legals, Copyright, Crowd Funding - what every Producer needs to know, presented by entertainment lawyer Christine Cunningham
  • Distribution and Marketing with  Andrew Pike, Ronin Films
  • Development and Financing funding - where to find it, how to write a good application
  • Using Social Media and Crowd Funding delivered by Simon Britton, Media Wave & Ross Howden, ScreenLaunch
  • Sales and Distribution with Michael Wrenn, Curious Film
  • Financing (Development, Production & Producer Offset) with Screen Australia’s Chris Oliver & Team
 



FEATURE FILM STREAM - COMPLETED

International script consultant, Stephen Cleary will take attendees through the creative side of producing a feature film, over three days Sept 24-26.  Cost is $275 incl GST ($220 incl GST if you attended other sessions of Producer Pod 2011). Places are limited, so book early!




TELEVISION STREAM - COMPLETED

Producer Gus Howard (Blue Healers, Hammers Over the Anvil) will run the three day Producer Pod Film Stream from Friday 25th - 27th November, 2011.   A practical look at TV from the different between writing for TV vs Film, financing TV  to how and when to pitch your work.   You will get the opportunity to bring your own ideas and get feedback.  Gus has over 20 years of experience in the TV business as well as feature film experience. Cost is $275 incl GST ($220 incl GST if you attended other sessions of Producer Pod 2011). Places are limited, so book early!
