Monica Penders.

Monica Penders
Director

Monica has a diverse background in business including advertising and public relations, marketing with the Walt Disney Company and her last corporate role was as Vice President of Corporation Communications at Lend Lease in New York.   In 2008 she produced the US$27million film The Secret of Moonacre which was shot in Budapest, Hungary and enjoyed a global theatrical release.

Monica graduated from Griffith University, Australia with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in film and media studies and has undertaken film studies at New York University and the New School.

Currently she is managing ScreenACT, the office of Film, TV and Digital Media in the Australian Capital Territory. She continues developing and producing her own projects under the Batavia Creative brand and was recently awarded a writing grant from Screen Australia for her feature project Eight Seasons.

 

Marisa Martin.

 

Marisa Martin
Project Manager

Marisa Martin is the principal of EoR Media, a Canberra based film and video production company, specialising in music videos, short films and animation. She also manages a number of local film events including the Lights! Canberra! Action! Filmmaking Festival and publishes the e-newsletter the Canberra Film Files to keep everyone up to date with everything film in Canberra. Marisa has won a number of awards for her short film projects.

Marisa joined the ScreenACT Team in 2011 to assist with the growing office, constituents and industry.

 

 

Annette Hurda
Locations Manager

Annette Hurda has been in the Film and TV industry in various roles, for more than 25 years.  Trained by ABCTV in all areas of TV Production Operations, Annette came to Canberra as Camera woman and Sound Recordist, working in News and Current affairs both locally, nationally and internationally.  She then became a freelance Director/Producer, creating independent films as well as teaching TV Production at NRS and TAFE.

‘Screen South East’, a NSW initiative, managed by Annette, was created to help Screen Producers navigate the NSW regional production scene.

With a keen interest in all things visual, Annette is currently the Locations liaison person at ScreenACT.



Sophie Brown
Events & Communications Coordinator

Sophie Brown is a 4th year Media Arts and Production/Arts student at the University of Canberra. After three months as an intern at ScreenACT Sophie has joined the team as the Events and Communications Coordinator. Sophie has produced several shorts film including award winning  Invasion. She is currently working at ByGeorge Studios one day a week assisting with administrative and production tasks.

Sophie has assisted in areas such as marketing, promotion and administration on film festivals such as the Canberra Short Film Festival and is looking forward to assisting on Lights! Canberra! Action! 2012. Sophie is looking forward to joining the ScreenACT bringing with her the experience she gained in 2011 organising Producer Pod: TV Stream and her writing skills from her majors in Journalism and Literary Studies form university.
