Frequently
Asked Questions
How do I ensure my
application is complete?
To become a member, you
need to JOIN and PAY. You will receive an email
confirming your joining and another confirming your
payment. Both need to be done for the membership
to be complete.
To get the insurance, you must first be a member, then
you need to APPLY and PAY. You will receive a
Certificate of Currency when you apply, and an email
confirming your payment. You need BOTH for the
insurance to be valid.
Here's a flowchart to show you the four step process:
What is SASI?
SASI stands for
Screen
Act
Screen
Industry and is a
special membership class of Canberra Business Council
which provides members with benefits, discounts and
access to subsidised public liability insurance.
ScreenACT is managed by Canberra Business Council.
Can
I get the Insurance without being a member of SASI?
No. You must be a member of the organisation in order to
access the insurance that has been purchased by the
organisation. This is because we have purchased a
blanket insurance policy.
Why is this associated
with Canberra Business Council?
ScreenACT is actually an initiative, not a
company. It is delivered on behalf of the ACT
Government by Canberra Business Council. Therefore
the Council has taken out the policy. To
differentiate between you ( and to ensure that you can
be covered by the insurance policy) and other members of
the Council, a new membership class of the Council has
been formed called SASI.
What
does the insurance cover?
$20 million Public Libability and limited equipment loss
and damage. It also only covers non-commerical
filmmaking e.g. short films. Please read
conditions on form.
How long am I covered
for?
As this is a blanket insurance policy, you are only
covered for the time that blanket policy is in place
which is one year from 24th January, 2012. So if
you purchase your insurance in January, 2012 you are
covered for a year. But if you purchase in June,
you are only covered for six months.
What
is considered non-commerical filmmaking?
Short films that have little to no expectation of a
commerical return, proejcts without broadcast or
distribution attachments.
Can I upgrade my
insurance level if it turns out I need to shoot more
than 3 or 10 days?
Yes, please contact the team at Financial Integrity
chris@financialintegrity.com.au
Can I read the
full insurance details?
Yes. They are included in the
SASI
INSURANCE APPLICATION FORM

You first have to be a SASI Member, which costs $50 incl
GST per year per person. Then insurance is costed
out in the following manner:

How
can you offer such a low-cost rate for Public
Liability Insurance for filmmakers?
We pay a (very high)
premium to an insurance company and charge you a MUCH
reduced rate so that you can have affordable access to
insurance. We believe filmmakers should be insured
when filmming on location and that's why we cover the
rest of the cost of the policy.

do I contact if I have specific questions about the
